Shipping

  You said you want to start building it. I asked which comes first, this or finishing Andrew's search work, and that is the open question. Nobody is writing it yet.

  You sent the post office price list and their developer page, and a part went to Germany for thirty two dollars. Cheaper than what we quote today on small light parts.

  Collect what every carrier charges each day by parcel size and destination, keep it ourselves, and pick the cheapest for the part in front of us. Your words: at minimum, intelligence we can build into rules.

  You asked whether UPS tells us when a package is delivered. If it does, that belongs in the order status the customer sees.

  Eight numbered points, and you labelled them a definition of done rather than an idea, which is why this sits here as your call and not as a note. Roughly half of it is already standing: Alex’s internal dashboard shows several of the readings you drew. What is not decided is which of the eight are the ones you would actually watch every morning, and whether it lives beside that dashboard or on its own. Nobody is building it.

The office server, and what the month costs

• your callThe hybrid architecture drawing from 21 August

  A picture of where each part of the system should sit. One line on it is a decision rather than a drawing, and it is the line worth talking about: it states that the production database is read-only to applications. That is not true today — it is the database the store runs on, and more than one thing writes to it. So the drawing is either a description of where we want to get to, in which case it needs a route, or it is a description of today, in which case it is wrong. That is the question, and it is yours before anyone builds to it.

  You pulled every invoice since January and asked what we can drop outside the essential store. Nothing has been dropped yet and that answer is yours.

  You asked Alex and me where the admin screens should sit. We owe you the answer, not the other way round.
